Website for Newly Diagnosed
The MS Society has launched a website aimed at young people newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). The http://www.lifeandms.org.uk site aims to answer fundamental questions about living with MS, highlight sources of information and support, and send out the message that life doesn't stop when MS starts.
The site tackles questions about life, work, money and relationships, and was developed with leading agency Harrison Troughton Wunderman following interviews with young people with MS. It will be promoted through diagnosis centres and a national publicity campaign.
Carers urged to act on pension rights
Carers need to ensure that they know their rights and take the necessary steps to boost their pension. An updated information leaflet "State Pensions for carers and parents – Your guide" is available to make sure that everyone knows their rights and if they need to take any action.
It is important that carers are aware of their entitlements and take the steps to receive the maximum benefit. The reforms which the Government has introduced ensure that carers and people with long-term illness can benefit from building a larger pension.
Many carers and parents will receive their additional State Pension automatically. However, it is still important for people to make sure this is the case for them. Unpaid carers in particular may need to take action and apply for Home Responsibilities Protection to make sure they don't miss
out.
To receive a copy of the information leaflet call 0845 60 60 265. The leaflet will also be available in doctor's surgeries, Jobcentre Plus offices and local Pension Centres. It can also be downloaded from
